In financial services, bad design doesn't just frustrate users. It loses them. At Big Human, we have spent over 15 years designing fintech products that make complex financial systems feel simple, trustworthy, and genuinely user-friendly.
As a fintech design agency, we partner with startups, neobanks, enterprise financial platforms, and everything in between. Whether you are building a financial app from scratch or modernizing a platform that is fallen behind, we bring together strategy, UI/UX design, and development to create digital experiences that work.

Broadening the scope of innovation
Designing for fintech is not just about making things look good. It's about understanding how users interact with money: there’s often anxiety, trust barriers, and a need for clarity under pressure. Good fintech design reduces friction, builds confidence, and keeps users coming back.
Our team works closely with product and engineering to translate complex financial logic into clean, intuitive user interfaces. We design for performance and accessibility across web and mobile app environments, including and Android, and we keep security and compliance considerations baked into the process from day one.
The result: digital financial products that feel simple for users while remaining robust and scalable under the hood.
Big Human designs and develops digital experiences across the full spectrum of fintech products. Our work spans customer-facing fintech apps, internal financial tools, and enterprise-grade systems that power modern financial infrastructure.
On a typical engagement, that might include intuitive onboarding flows, real-time transaction interfaces, data visualization dashboards, reporting tools, and automated financial workflows. We handle both fintech website design and mobile app design.
TD Ameritrade is one of the most recognized brokerage firms for individual investors in the world. From 2010 to 2019, Big Human served as their agency of record — a nearly decade-long partnership that grew from a brand refresh into something much larger. We became TDA's embedded innovation studio, working across product, marketing, and engineering on some of their most important digital products.
That included the TD Ameritrade Mobile app, Mobile Trader (redesigned for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch), and thinkorswim — a complex trading platform where we tackled one of fintech design's hardest challenges: making dense, real-time financial data legible and actionable. Our UI/UX work on Mobile Trader contributed to a 21% increase in average monthly mobile users and a 41% increase in daily active users, and helped TDA earn a spot on Barron's list of Best Online Brokers in 2017.
"Throughout the project, Big Human was communicative, adding a personal touch to our collaboration, and demonstrated a genuine care for the project's success."

Fintech Platform Development
Successful fintech platforms require more than good design. They need systems built for scale, performance, and real-world complexity. Our team designs digital products that integrate with financial APIs, payment systems, and modern technologies like blockchain and automation. We think about how the experience needs to evolve as your user base grows, and we build accordingly.
Financial Branding and Digital Identity
In financial services, trust is the product. Big Human helps fintech companies build digital identities that communicate credibility, transparency, and forward-thinking innovation. Through brand identity work, design systems, typography, and interface design, we help financial platforms create the kind of first impression that builds trust with users.
Designing for fintech means understanding how people think and feel about money — the trust they need before they'll take action, the anxiety they carry if something goes wrong.
Financial platforms ask users to hand over sensitive information and make consequential decisions. The design has to earn that trust. Clear visual hierarchy, transparent workflows, and consistent interface design patterns help users feel secure from their first interaction — and that feeling of security is what turns a first-time user into a loyal one.
Financial tools can be genuinely complicated. Regulations, multi-step processes, and real-time data needs all add up. Our fintech UX design methodology breaks these workflows down into logical, intuitive steps, supported by smart automation and real-time feedback. The goal is to make even the most complex financial process feel effortless.
Strong fintech UX directly impacts onboarding completion, account creation, and product adoption. We design streamlined onboarding flows, frictionless landing pages, and clear user interfaces that remove the drop-off points most fintech apps never even notice. Removing that friction makes a measurable difference in whether users complete the flow.
Financial products succeed when users return regularly and trust the platform with critical parts of their lives. Features like well-designed dashboards, smart alerts, and thoughtfully integrated automation encourage ongoing engagement — not because they are flashy, but because they are genuinely useful.
Building a financial product that users actually trust and adopt requires more than good intentions. It takes a structured design process — one that accounts for regulatory realities, technical complexity, and the very human experience of managing money. At Big Human, our methodology combines research, strategy, and iterative testing to get there. From early discovery through launch and beyond, we work closely with stakeholders to make sure the product we're building reflects both user needs and business requirements.
Every fintech engagement starts with deep context-setting. We conduct stakeholder interviews, user research, and competitive analysis to understand the product, the market, and the regulatory environment it operates in. This phase establishes the strategic foundation and it is where we identify the gaps that a better design process can close.
Financial platforms handle sensitive transactions and operate under compliance constraints that affect every design decision. We map detailed user journeys alongside potential risk points — identifying where users are likely to feel confused, frustrated, or uncertain, and where regulatory requirements introduce friction that we need to design around thoughtfully.
Clear information architecture is non-negotiable for financial products with complex data structures. We organize features, functionality, and financial data into logical frameworks that help users quickly understand what they're looking at and find what they need. Good fintech IA is invisible — users just feel like the product makes sense.
Low-fidelity wireframes let us explore interaction models, layouts, and user flows before any code is written. Interactive prototypes simulate real product behavior so stakeholders can experience the fintech application (and give meaningful feedback) before development begins.
In financial apps, usability errors have real consequences. Through usability testing, behavioral analytics, and qualitative research, we validate the experience with real users and refine interactions before they ship. We treat testing as a core part of the full design process, not a last-minute checkpoint.
Once designs are finalized, our engineering team brings the product to life. Our integrated design and development workflows mean that frontend interfaces are built to match the intended experience. After launch, we can continue to optimize through performance data, user feedback, and ongoing iteration.
Our team brings deep experience across consumer fintech apps and enterprise financial platforms, with a consistent focus on usability, scalability, and trust.
Great fintech design requires the right combination of research tools, design systems, and collaboration platforms. We use industry-leading tools and processes to ensure every product we build is tested, scalable, and ready for development.
Real user data drives our design decisions. We use behavioral analytics platforms, usability testing tools, and qualitative research frameworks to understand how people actually interact with financial apps.
Prototyping tools allow us to rapidly explore product interactions, layouts, and fintech app design concepts before development begins. Stakeholders get to experience the product in motion (not just on a static slide).
Design systems ensure visual consistency across financial products. We build scalable UI frameworks that allow fintech teams to maintain cohesive user interface patterns across web and mobile. Typography, color, spacing, and component patterns are all aligned to a single source of truth.
Reusable component libraries accelerate both design and development while keeping the product experience consistent. Every component we build is documented, scalable, and designed to evolve alongside the product.
Our workflows are built for close collaboration between designers and engineers. Developer-ready documentation, annotated specs, and organized handoff processes reduce misinterpretation and keep development moving efficiently. Whether you work with our team of developers or your in-house team, our goal is to make hand-off seamless.
Financial apps need to work for everyone, including users with visual, cognitive, or motor impairments. We follow accessibility standards and usability best practices to ensure the platforms we design are inclusive by design.
Fintech companies operate in a fast-moving environment where product experience can be the difference between growth and churn. We've spent over 15 years designing and building digital products for financial institutions, fintech startups, and everything in between. What sets us apart isn't just what we design. It's how we work: closely integrated with your team, transparent about timelines and costs, and focused on outcomes that matter.
Our design philosophy puts the user at the center of every decision. We conduct user research, test with real people, and challenge assumptions. A user-centric strategy produces financial tools that are not just functional, but genuinely adopted.
We rely on research, analytics, and usability testing to guide design decisions. This approach reduces risk, surfaces problems early, and means the product you launch has been validated before it ships.
Our team has years of experience designing and building mobile apps, financial platforms, and enterprise systems across industries. That depth means we recognize patterns, anticipate edge cases, and bring informed POV to every project.
We design digital products that work across web, iOS, Android, and enterprise platforms. Whether you need a mobile app, a complex financial dashboard, or a full product redesign, we have the cross-platform expertise to build it cohesively.
The design systems we build aren't just for the current version of your product; they're built to grow with it. Scalable component libraries and documented design languages mean your team can move faster as the product evolves.
We don't disappear after launch. Many of our most meaningful client relationships — including a nearly decade-long partnership with TD Ameritrade — are ongoing collaborations built on trust, transparency, and consistent results. We think of ourselves as an extension of your team.
